That's the mission.
Every church starts somewhere. For 227 Church, it started with a calling: a conviction that East Helena needed a place where people could encounter the real Jesus. Not a polished version of religion, but an authentic, life-changing relationship with God.
The name 227 is no accident. It's the phone prefix that generations of East Helena residents have grown up with, a badge of community pride, resilience, and belonging. We carry that name because we want to be for this place and for the people who call it home.
227 Church exists to follow Jesus and make followers who multiply. That's it.

We believe the local church is the hope of the world. Not because we have everything figured out, but because when a group of people is genuinely committed to Jesus, Scripture, and one another, transformation happens.
Our vision is to be a sending church. Not just a gathering place, but a launching pad. We want to raise up leaders, equip disciples, and see people go out and make a real difference in Helena and beyond. We're especially passionate about the next generation, because the future of the church depends on it.

Because we love God, we are compelled to love those whom God loves. God gave everything for us, so we give generously of our time, resources, and lives. We seek to be the hands and feet of Jesus wherever He leads, fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19).

We value an authentic community that reflects the life of the early church: praising God, breaking bread together, meeting regularly, and caring deeply for those within and beyond our fellowship. We believe in doing life together, because people are not a means to an end; they are the end. Circles go deeper than rows.

We are devoted to becoming faithful disciples of Jesus. Our lives will be grounded in biblical literacy, shaped by unceasing prayer, and marked by obedience to Christ as we grow in spiritual maturity and Christlikeness.
Committed to Being Followers of Jesus
We are committed to preaching the Word of God diligently and without apology to today's culture. God's Word is unchanging, yet living and active. We will never add to or subtract from Scripture, believing it to be our final authority. We care far more about faithfulness to God than approval from people.

During that same season, God was also stirring something new in the lives of close friends. Christian and Madi Peterson, along with Will and Hailey Grieve, each sensed Him leading them toward an unknown next step. Through months of prayer and God-ordained conversations, it became clear that He was bringing our three families together for this very purpose. We are deeply grateful for how He has led—and how He continues to guide and provide.

For nearly two years, Joey and HIs Family had been praying daily, seeking God’s direction for their family, local community, and for those who do not yet know Him.
In August 2025, during a time of prayer, Joey sensed a clear calling from God to step out and plant a church. As Joey and his family asked the Lord for confirmation, He faithfully provided it—through unexpected conversations, timely encounters, and unmistakable affirmation in both of our hearts. Over time, it became undeniable that this was the step God was calling us to take.
